All is quiet on the home front
Family gone,memories take their place.
The wrappings and ribbons put away
Opened gifts sit under the tree, waiting to be cherished,
Cards read once again and loving thoughts savored.
Leftovers gone, but not from our waistline,
The last of the turkey simmers on the back burner
The broth of bone, onions and sage
Sends a spicy warmth throughout the house.
The kids call and say they had a safe trip home.
