Stories can have an impact, that are never forgotten.
One small book, introduced in a childrens’ literature class (in college) was”The Hundred Dresses” by Eleanor Estes.
The story is now a classic and recently I discovered new edition at Barnes and Noble that includes a forward by the author’s daughter.
The story is about teasing that turns cruel, where the witnesses remain silent, afraid to stand up for their classmate, thereby becoming partners in the cruelty. It’s a valuable lesson written with understanding and compassion. Without being preachy, the author teaches through this simple tale about the power of mercy and forgiveness.
