Marooned

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Louise with The Storyteller’s Abode. Thank you Louise

Hubert Cramwell, the 3rd, descended from a long line of sailors,  unfortunately had not inherited the necessary skills for life on the water. Stranded aboard his small vessel he surveyed the sky.  The ominous clouds on the horizon or the sun beating relentlessly terrified him.  But he had no choice but to wait till nightfall when a hopeful tide might sweep him again out onto the bay.

Hubert heard a thrashing sound, and looking down saw a small fish flopping on the sand.  “Help me,”  it gurgled in its loudest fishiest voice.  Hubert scooped it aloft, the scales sparkling in the sunlight.

“Save me and I’ll grant you any wish,”  It panted.

“Really? Anything?”

“Yes, but don’t take all day.  Just make your wish as you toss me back.”

“I’ve always wanted to own a yacht,” Hubert yelled his wish as he hurled the fish back into the briny deep.

And there Hubert remained. Captain of his yacht. Stranded still.
